Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

Saturday 02 November
Corner of Charles Allen - 10am - 2 Hours

We will be using various techniques to maximise the behaviour of the light. Backlighting is one of my favourites and can be used for portraiture or nature. Bokeh is Japanese for blur but is a term used for soft out of focus balls of light which can look very pleasing. Burst in this case is star burst which can be achieved when you have strong areas of light and a correct choice of aperture. Use all three to create some amazing compositions.

Great class; I really appreciated how Jessica had the option of tracing the picture so more time could be spent on actually using watercolor paints. Jessica also is a great teacher and knows how to inspire each student by honing in on their individual needs. Thanks!

I really enjoyed the class. I liked the size of it, which allowed us to interact with Jessica and each other. She is an excellent instructor, and I appreciated how she understood how we self-criticize and encouraged us to be gentle with ourselves and enjoy the process.

ARTISTS
Bryttany Mack
Bryttany, unlike most artists, wasn't always interested in pursuing art, let alone painting from a small age. Her story is a bit more unique. She always had the innate ability to see, but as fate would have it her body was forced to catch up when she was inadvertently placed into an art class. From there, her love affair with art began and with time her passion for painting came.

Being a native to Atlanta, it seemed God had everything divinely ordained that she go to SCAD Atlanta. Speaking through those around her, allowing her to fall in love with the campus during the tour. Post SCAD, she self taught herself to not only brand herself as a painter, but the essence a true artist. She expanded her repertoire to photography, 3D modeling, and illustration; God blessed her with the ability to expand her territory of expression.

Within her art career, she has been a part of three art shows (Black Girl Art Show, Conception Art Show, and a nonprofit art show for Feed Thee. She entered contests and completed personal projects for customers helping their visions come to life.

Bryttany Mack is available for private bookings

Available M, T, TH & F (any time), most Saturdays from 10am until 4pm, most Sundays after 1pm, and until 4pm on Wednesdays

Private tutoring, weddings, portraits, and events.

Jessica Lily
Jessica Lily has been working professionally in the arts for over 20 years. She was formerly a photographer and is currently a graphic designer and illustrator, working for clients nationally. She returned to watercolor as a medium in 2021 following a deep love for water based media in her youth and college career, where she studied Fine Arts at the University of Georgia.

Her body of watercolor illustrations are colorful, playful and inviting - she loves to paint animals that come to life deep with soul, and portraits that capture the essence of a person. She has a deep enjoyment of studying art, talking shop about art materials and process, and believes that every teacher is a student, and every student is a teacher.

Twenty-eight years ago, I took a class from Suzy Schultz, a relatively new watercolorist, in Atlanta. She also painted a consignment picture of my then 1 year old son. I had been painting on/off all my life but as life does, things get busy and my artwork was very on and off for decades. Fast forward to a month ago and 28 years later when I found out that Suzy was having a Still Life Water Color class in Atlanta. I was newly retired and excited about spending some painting time with Suzy. This

I painted Apple Blossoms for a friend who had gifted me the watercolor paper she had purchased for a family member who decided they didn?t want it. Since she would not take payment I asked what I could paint for her. Flowers she said. So, I used the 9 x 12 Canson 140 lb block she gave me to paint this.
